Frenetic Rambles & Idle Reflections. Nothing too Directed, Really.

last week disappeared. i spent a lot of time in the kitchen at work, doing frantic things. like making dinner all by myself, or making dinner in fifteen minutes because we didn't know we didn't have a dinner group until it was time to serve (oops). i saw the freaky beautiful circus of janelle monae and of montreal at the paramount. spendy, but worth every penny. i also spent more net hours decorating than ever before in the history of my life. i never want to decorate anything ever again.

i made a grown-up hobbes costume out of a child's tiger costume and managed not to overheat or dismantle it too badly. at our big blue house halloween last night, there was mayhem and revelry, and hundreds of people packed into our house. as i was preparing i read my horoscope and my medicine cards. my horoscope said: You will have a mad desire to party, you will abuse the pleasures that Life offers.  my cards said that i would have an incredible time filled with beautiful people and objects, and perhaps fall in love. (i did the former, and not the latter.)

someone stole the veil body of our electric chair mannekin. the circuit-board floor was torn up immediately by zealous dancers. i played dj to the drunk, belligerent masses and got a good reception. mixed whiskey and beer (in my beer can), which made for poor feelings this morning. successfully evaded the unwanted advances of the hamburglar. anytime we needed a conference, the roommates would shout CODE BLUE and bum rush the pantry, where we would drink and yell sweet nothings at each other before dissipating back into the crowd.

this day has disappeared into long giggly brunch and mostly incoherent debriefing sessions, long walks in the sun with dana and zoe respectively, cleaning sessions that have left my hands and much of the kitchen smelling of stale beer and bad breath (caused by fermented potato creatures). i accidentally went out into the world my face smudged in black paint, not having yet brushed my teeth, and didn't return again until suppertime.

today i checked my email only to find not one, not two, but three beautiful letters from people dear to me. big ups to y'all, seattle autumn and my brain right now are a force field ripe for correspondence, and there are few more satisfying feelings than the gift and receipt of thoughtful missives. right up there with warm soup in the belly.

welcome to the working week. i know it don't thrill you, i hope it don't kill you.
