We are having a giant, wonderland snowstorm and (to be honest it's not really all that big on the scale of Buffalo snow) it is the first big snow of the season, and everyone is excited. I am excited because I went walking in it and felt like Cousin It with my popped collar/pulled up scarf/sunglasses wind protection ensemble. The Buffalo News staff are so excited that they are live-blogging it. The only word for what is going on on that page is "classic."
Meanwhile, I was out struggling against the gusts for a while this morning, and am now enjoying the storm from my bed, watching Law and Order: SVU, freewriting, and ruminating over this insightful tune by The Flaming Lips:
Stuck in the perpetual motion
Dying against the machine
The whole thing leaves
You a nothing instead of a these
The sun is black and the black halos fly
And your number is backwards again when you try
The sound is so cute when you're 22
When you're 22
Eggs break when you walk on the scramble
You're living against the machine
The whole thing leaves
You a nothing instead of a these
The bone is cracked and the cracked eggshells fly
And your number is backwards again when you drive
The whole thing's removed when you're 22
When you're 22
Tomorrow I think I am going to make dumplings.
